Thelma and Louise are describe as the woman version of Bonnie and Clyde. Louise has big role convinces her friend Thelma to go on a road trip with her. They end up in serious and are now on the run. Louise is very masculine, but fits the stereotype of woman still wants a man. Thelma is very submissive and has been oppressed by her husband for a very long time. They change from even clothing to character traits as well.
They show feminist point of view from their own life experiences. They show two dynamic characters that change what was wrong though their lives. They took the view too the extreme due to social status of woman. This end sadly like Bonnie and Clyde but they did not allow them to be oppress by the police or others.
Jabriel,
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that you draw a parallel to Bonnie and Clyde, but I want you to go further with it. Why does each couple take to a life of crime and being outlaws? Are they each trying to prove a point (maybe for B+C, it was about poverty or conformity; for T+L, it seems to be about male domination). As for their ends, remember that B+C get ambushed, but T+L choose their end!
